The course is designed to provide the MA students with a better insight into the semiotic nature of speech sounds, mechanism of sound production, their descriptive aspects and functions in speech. The learners are trained to conduct the analysis of distinctive features of the sounds along with the skills of contrastive analysis of the variety of American and British sounds.
