This course is designed for third-year students of the English Language Program. The course is delivered in the fifth semester of the eight-semester program. Key aspects of the course include basic knowledge about concepts in semantics such as meaning (sense, reference), types of meaning (denotation, connotation, extension, intension), sense properties and sense relations between predicates and between sentences or propositions. All this knowledge paves the way for the study of other linguistic theory courses as well as translation or theory of translation courses.
