This course is designed for third-year students of the Primary English Language Teacher Education Program. It extends over 15 weeks with 03 periods per week and is delivered in semester 5 of the eight-semester program. The course aims at providing students with background knowledge of how children learn, how they acquire first and second/foreign languages as well as conditions that affect their language learning. Besides, the course develops students’ understanding of approaches and methods in primary English language teaching, and effective strategies for classroom management.
The course also engages students in individual, pair and group work activities through which they can demonstrate their ability of dealing with pedagogical issues independently and collaboratively.
