The use of computer and information technology for the teaching and learning of languages is now well established. In order for this technology to be applied effectively teachers themselves must have a substantial understanding of the nature and operation of this technology within their professional frameworks. Students who intend to pursue higher degrees in applied linguistics or TESOL, or those who intend to take up language teaching, will find this course practical and useful.

Course Aims: This course will introduce students to the application of computers, and other recent technologies, in language teaching and learning. This will include both theoretical and practical aspects, based on the CALL literature and on current pedagogical approaches to language education. By the end of the course, students will be able to develop their own CALL project.
